6 Month Checkup
Oliver had his 6 month checkup today. The Dr said he has great gross motor skills and is doing wonderful. He weighs 17 1/2 lbs (50%) and is 27 1/4 inches long (75%). He is close to crawling and close to having his first tooth pop through...before I know it my little boy will be running around. We love him so much and enjoy watching him change everyday.

Da-Da
About a week ago Denny called me one morning and said he wasn't sure if he was hearing things or not but Oliver was saying "da-da"...and since then he says it often! It's so cute! I'm working on getting him to say "ma-ma" but right now he seems content with "da-da".

My baby is sick!
It's official. Oliver is sick... It started with a runny nose a few days ago... then sinus congestion.... but this morning he was miserable. Crying non stop and wouldn't let us put him down. We didn't need the doctor to confirm our suspicions but went anyway. Good thing because in addition to the cold, he had a good fever and ear infection. So we're giving him antibiotics and rotating tylenol and ibuprofen. The fever broke this afternoon and he finally started eating (not like normal but at least it's something). Hopefully he gets some rest tonight...so mom & dad do too!
We hate seeing our boy in some much discomfort. I can not wait to see him smiling & playing again.

Oliver meets his Aunt & Uncle
Last weekend Oliver & I took a road trip to the Quad Cities to meet his Uncle Chris & Aunt Sarah (Shea's brother & sister). Oliver did pretty good on the 6 hour round trip car ride...but I think I'll take a helper along next time. =)
B is for Bath
Oliver LOVES taking baths. He gets so excited when I get him undressed and we head to the bathroom. He is such a water baby- just like his momma & daddy!

Happy Half Birthday Oliver
6 months has gone by and oh so fast. Oliver has so much personality and is pure joy to be around. We feel so blessed to watch him grow & change. We're anxious to see how much he has grown at his 6 month wellness check- I'm thinking close to 18 lbs and 27 inches. =) We'll see how close I am. We have introduced pureed food with sweet potatoes being a hit and no interest in carrots. I'm nervous to give him the sweet taste of fruits for fear he'll be uninterested in vegetables. I picked a few new things to try so we'll see what happens. Ideally Oliver will love a variety of foods & not be a picky eater. haha. Today, he said "da da" so that was quite exciting. I'm expecting him to crawl soon as well as get his first tooth; it's almost surreal how quick things change.
Oliver loves to give Denny kisses!

Cuteness Overload
We have been keeping busy this summer...We try hard to take Chloe swimming at the lake, long walks outside when it's not super hot, hanging out with grandma & grandpa often, play time on the floor, and lots & lots of cuddling. Oliver is getting close to crawling... He plays on the floor and can move just about anywhere he wants- if he wants a toy or stuffed animal he will find a way to get to it. It's too cute. This week he has been eating sweet potatoes which he seems to like and he is also eating multi-grain cereal instead of just the boring rice cereal. His sleeping hasn't been going so well.... actually in the last 2 weeks almost every night he has been getting up every couple hours- that is making for one tired momma!
Here are some pictures from the last couple weeks. I'm sure I have one of the cutest babies around- no doubt.
First Pony
When I came home today there was a large box on our porch....so I looked on the address label and it was addressed to Oliver... Hmm.... what could it be?!
His first pony! Our family in Boise (Denny's step brother & sister) sent this to Oliver from Oliver's cousin, Dylan. It is such a lovely gift and I can't wait for Oliver to ride him!
Cloth Diapering
For several months I have debated on whether we should CD or not.... I've gone back & forth numerous times and really couldn't make a decision (surprise, surprise). Yesterday I finally decided to go for it. I bought 13 used Fuzzi Bunz pocket diapers from a lady for $10/each- great deal. I then met Andrea from Diaper Dudee and picked up a dozen pre-folds along with 3 Thirsties covers. I have close to 3 days worth of diapers now, 2 wet bags, disposable/biodegradable liners and got it all for $220! That is less than 4 months worth of disposable diapers. Considering Oliver will be in diapers for another 18 months or so... I am going to save a great deal of money!
Anyway, the first 24 hours have gone well. Denny, Grandma, & Kristine (sitter) all used the diapers successfully today. I'm pretty excited about this. The only complaints I have is that my son is now bottom heavy... I think he will need a few days to adjust to the additional weight on his tush.
